2022 Boys Winter Clinic (Grades 3 and 4)

With the spring season just around the corner RYL is offering opportunities for boys and girls to get out and tune up their lacrosse skills. The clinics will be structured with a mix of drills as well as high energy 6 v 6 game play. The drills will focus on the basics of catching, throwing, ground balls, etc. The game playwill be high energy quick moving games to give the kids an opportunity to be creative without worrying about structure. 

Dates: Sundays - Jan 9, 16, 23, 30, Feb 6, 13, 27 Mar 6
Time: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: Wilton Sports and Fitness – 644 Danbury Rd., Wilton
Equipment:  Helmet, mouth piece, stick, gloves, and shoulder and elbow pads
Cost:  $150 for the entire series (we do not have a drop-in option)

These grades practice twice a week and have games on Saturdays/Sundays. The primary emphasis is on solidifying fundamentals, introducing higher level skills and developing field awareness and team synergy.  There will be several small, evenly balanced teams that will practices together during the week and play games separately.

Season:               Tentatively early April through June 12 (excluding Spring Break and Memorial Day Weekend) 

Practices:            2 weekday evenings, likely at RHS

Games:               Tentatively beginning last weekend of April; small field 7 vs. 7 format

Equipment:          Goggles, mouth piece and stick

Cost:                    $325 through 2/6/22, $350 thereafter; $1,000 family limit  

Uniforms:             Pinnies will be provided (to be worn with black shorts please)

At the Junior level (5th & 6th grades), the primary emphasis is on developing and reinforcing strong fundamentals and introducing higher level skills, more advanced strategies, field awareness and developing team synergy on the field.

Scheduling
The spring season, depending on weather, will run from approximately March 20 to June 12. 
There will be 3 practices a week and games on both Saturday and Sunday.  The season will consist of 10-12 games generally limited to Fairfield County and Northern Westchester County.

Player Evaluations
Please make every effort to attend all evaluation sessions, as noted below.  Players will be evaluated and divided into skill level teams (A, B, and C). Players selected to the "A" teams will be expected to make lacrosse their primary sport in the spring and attend all games and practices.

Wednesday, March 2nd  5:00 - 6:00 pm:  5th and 6th grade boys and girls 

Sunday, March 6th  4:00 - 5:00 pm:  5th and 6th grade boys and girls

Registration Fee
$450 base fee per player by 2/6, $500 thereafter.  $1,000 family limit (applicable to base fee only).

Travel Uniforms
IMPORTANT:  Each player is required to have an RYL travel uniform, purchased separately and not included in the program fee. The uniform store closes on 2/6/22 with no exceptions.   If your child has a uniform purchased from Lax.com in 2020 or 2021 ONLY, you may re-use that.  PLEASE HAVE YOUR PLAYER TRY ON THEIR EXISTING UNIFORM AND ENSURE THAT IT IS SOMETHING THEY CAN WEAR THROUGH JUNE 2022!  

We are offering a try-on day so you can ensure you are ordering the correct size for your child: Ridgefield Rec Center, January 8, 12:00 - 2:00 pm.

Lacrosse experience is not necessarily required at all levels.  There may be a limited number of coaching positions available for each team.  RYL reserves the right to select and assign coaches as needed.

RYL will use the Coaches Registration page to help communicate with and assign coaches, and obtain or update US Lacrosse Membership information.

Please be aware that all RYL coaches must comply with the following requirements before the start of the spring season:

1.  Take and pass the CONNY rules test available online at www.connylacrosse.org. Click here for information. 
2.  Obtain Red Cross first aid/AED certification (details to follow).
3.  Participate in RYL Coaches Training.

ALL RYL COACHES MUST COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING BEFORE THE START OF THE SEASON:

1. Complete Red Cross first aid/AED training (details to follow).

2. Participate in RYL  Coaches Training.

3. IMPORTANT: RYL 5-8th grade girls teams are a member of CONNY (Connecticut New York Youth Lacrosse Association-www.connylacrosse.org).  CONNY requires that all coaches take and pass the CONNY Online Rules Exam.  It is mandatory that all 4th-8th grade coaches take the online exam and strongly suggested that all RYL girls coaches take the exam.
